Get to know Sanchari a little better through the interview below:

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born and raised in Kolkata, India. Completed my Master of Science in Geology in 2013 at Presidency College Kolkata and moved to Udaipur, Rajasthan where I started my professional career as an Exploration Geologist at Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Vedanta) the same year.

I have worked in different Greenfield exploration projects for lead, zinc, copper, gold etc. in India and had lead one copper gold exploration project. I was involved mainly in surface mapping, litho-structural core logging/sampling, correlation as well as monitoring mineral auction block processes.

I joined Datamine India in February 2023 for new challenges and for growth.

Can you explain some of the challenges you consult to your clients on in a few sentences and how you help them to improve?

I’m new in consulting and I’ve found it’s a mutual learning process. I am enjoying the continuous learning while working with the clients. I would like to use my technical skills and experience for better understanding the client’s perspective in order to help them overcome their challenges.

What inspired your career in this industry?

The connection with Mother Earth is the main aspect for selecting Geology in my higher studies and I have been able to continue that connection through a career in exploration.

Since I have started working, I’ve always enjoyed the software side which enables me to visualize & correlate surface to sub surface Geology. Datamine is the complete mine value chain with all the capability to understand from exploration to production – the complete process. I’m really happy to get the opportunity of working here.

What is the most satisfying aspect of your role / the work you do?

The most satisfying aspect, I feel, learning from different challenges during the consulting and supporting clients in geology field. It has always been satisfactory to be able to contribute to the major part of the mine value chain, from exploration to mine production, over time.

What are your best memories from your career?

For me, the work environment and the team I’m working with are the most important aspects of a job as it helps me to perform better and enjoy myself while working. I am really happy to work with great colleagues.

What’s a fun fact about you?

A passionate reader, an ardent music lover. You will definitely find an honest smile on my face.
